Music Teacher in Canonbury

Hello! I am a Music teacher currently working as a Head of Music at a secondary school in East London.

I also sing as a soprano in the London Symphony Chorus under Simon Halsey CBE where I have sung at the Barbican Centre, the Royal Albert Hall, St Paul’s Cathedral and at venues in Monaco and France.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2018 from King’s College London where I studied piano under Heeji Moon from the Royal Academy of Music. It was here that my passion for classical music really flourished.
I then completed the prestigious teacher training course, Removed, where I gained my Qualified Teacher Status and my Postgraduate Diploma in Education from UCL’s Institute of Education.

I have recently gained a distinction in a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, also from UCL’s Institute of Education.

Tutoring Experience

I have 10 years experience of teaching one-to-one piano, singing and theory, supporting students in completing the ABRSM qualifications. The students I have taught have flourished and gained invaluable musical skills but also an abundance of confidence. I also have 5 years experience of teaching Music in a secondary classroom, teaching the Eduqas and Edexcel Music GCSEs.

Tutoring Approach

I am a very friendly and patient teacher which I believe is the best approach when teaching students. Students feel empowered to take control of their learning and this helps them achieve higher grades.

It is important to build a foundational knowledge of music, using scales and music theory as a basis for continued learning. I ask my students lots of questions so I can understand their knowledge and fill in any gaps for them. I work closely with the appropriate exam specifications in order to ensure students are able to succeed and achieve highly when they time comes for them to take their exams. But I will also introduce students to a wide variety of genres and composers to help them gain their own passion for Music.
