I am currently a class teacher who has worked with children in Years 1, 3 and 6. Whether you are looking for support regarding a specific learning challenge in English or maths, or more general help to boost your child’s confidence, I have the experience and knowledge to support them.
Having spent the last two years working as a year 6 class teacher, I have a broad and secure understanding of the KS2 curriculum. I have a very strong understanding of the requirements for SATS, particularly for children in year 5 and 6, to support them in acquiring the fundamental knowledge and skills in preparation for secondary school. I understand the necessity for a mastery learning approach - knowing that children need to feel confident at each step of their learning in order to reach their full capability. I have experience and training for working with special education needs (SEN), creating individual support plans and tailoring my teaching to support them. I have worked with children with dyslexia, ASD and ADHD, as well as children with English as an additional language (EAL).
I believe that a child learns best when they feel confident in themselves and that this is integral in the learning process. I provide a nurturing and supportive approach, adapting my teaching strategies to suit their individual abilities. I am able to offer 1:1 support with:
- Year 6 SATS preparation (primarily Year 5 and 6)
- KS2 Maths support: developing arithmetic and reasoning skills
- Writing support with a focus on sentence structure, grammar and punctuation
- Reading support to develop comprehension and understanding, as well as oracy (oral) skills.
