I am currently Maths teacher at a selective girls school and also a current A-Level examiner for Mathematics modules. I am 51 year old Mathematics graduate with a real love for the subject. I grew up on the south coast and moved up to the North West in 2007. I've always loved one-to-one tuition as you can make so much of a difference in a very small period of time. As a person, am a relaxed approachable individual who is really willing to listen to your questions.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught abilities from the lower end of Key Stage 3 right up to the end of Key Stage 5. I am able to tutor all A Level modules up to and including Further Mathematics. I have taught in girls, mixed, state and independent schools and am familiar with all examination boards. I am currently in my 23rd year of teaching, and have been Head of Mathematics previously. I am returning to tutoring after a small break whilst having a family.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring is based on a listening and structured approach. Its a joint exercise, where both myself and the tutee help to identify and rectify areas of weakness. I use a mixture of textbooks, exam papers, IT and more. I realise that often it's lack of confidence, rather than ability, and I encourage students to ask any question, no matter how simple it may seem to them. Each student is different, and I tailor my tutoring to meet their (and their parents) needs.
