I am a UCL English graduate with a friendly personality and a love for learning. I have an excellent academic record across the sciences and humanities, and my interests equip me particularly well for teaching English Literature, History, Religion, Philosophy, and Ethics (RPE), Psychology, and Biology. I can reinforce and expand upon learning done in school to increase confidence around and general comprehension of a given subject, as well as provide extra support with areas of difficulty and assistance with homework, essay writing and editing, and exam preparation.
I currently tutor with the charitable organisation Bookmark Reading, providing one-to-one tuition to primary school aged children struggling with literacy. I also have experience working as a Teaching Assistant, in which role I helped students from Reception to Year 6 with a broad range of subjects.
My approach will vary depending on the learning style, confidence, and objectives of each student, so that my lessons are tailor made, targeted, and efficient. If my student is preparing for examinations, I will focus on exam style and past paper questions in order to practice and perfect their technique. If, on the other hand, the goal is to improve general comprehension of a subject and build confidence, lessons might be more discussion-based. Either way, I will strive to make lessons enjoyable, following my students' interests as well as areas of difficulty, and maintaining a relaxed and non-judgemental environment.
