Online Maths Tuition

My career in education spans over a decade, having contributed significantly at prestigious institutions such as the International Community School in Abu Dhabi and Hillcrest High School. As someone who believes in comprehensive education that extends beyond the confines of the classroom, I have consistently sought out roles that blend academic instruction with pastoral care. I am eager to leverage this unique blend of experiences in the role of Junior House Parent, fostering an inclusive and supportive boarding environment that aligns with the holistic care Highfield and Brookham School is known for.

Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to fostering a love for mathematics among my students, employing a variety of pedagogical techniques to ensure material accessibility and engagement. I am adept at coordinating intervention strategies and data analysis to support student success, which I believe will be an asset in helping Highfield and Brookham students achieve their academic goals.

Beyond my professional life, I maintain an active lifestyle and immerse myself in learning through reading, cooking, and cultural exploration. These pastimes are not only personal passions but also enhance my ability to connect with and inspire students in diverse and meaningful ways.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching mathematics online is rooted in creating an engaging, interactive, and deeply educational experience tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of each student. With a strong belief in utilising technology to enhance instruction, I seamlessly integrate various digital tools to not only present mathematical concepts but also foster a collaborative and dynamic learning environment.

Interactive PowerPoint presentations form the backbone of my lesson delivery, allowing me to provide clear, visually impactful explanations that can include animated steps for solving problems, graphical demonstrations of mathematical principles, and embedded videos that can bring abstract concepts to life. The versatility of PowerPoint enables a structured yet flexible approach to each lesson, facilitating real-time adjustments based on the students' understanding and engagement.

The use of a digital tablet is paramount to simulating the traditional classroom experience. It grants me the ability to write out equations, annotate text, and interact with the on-screen material in a natural teaching method that resonates well with students. Not only does it allow me to explain concepts as if I were writing on a real whiteboard, but it also lets students view problem-solving processes step-by-step, mirroring the intimacy of one-on-one instruction.

Online whiteboards are a game-changer for real-time collaboration, providing a shared space where students can work out problems under my guidance or together with peers. This fosters a sense of community and interactive participation that can sometimes be lost in online settings. Whether it's used for brainstorming, drawing diagrams, or receiving immediate feedback on their work, the online whiteboard becomes an essential hub for student expression and engagement.

Moreover, I integrate specialised mathematics programs such as Geometer's Sketchpad into my lessons to create a hands-on learning experience. Geometer's Sketchpad gives students the ability to explore geometrical concepts and construct their own understanding through direct manipulation of shapes and figures. This dynamic exploration encourages students to venture beyond passive learning, fostering a deeper comprehension and an investigative spirit in mathematics.

I complement these technologies with frequent assessments and open lines of communication, ensuring that each student's progress is closely monitored, and support is provided whenever it's needed. In essence, my approach combines the best aspects of traditional teaching with the innovation of current educational technology to deliver an outstanding, student-centered mathematics education online.
