Tutoring Experience

I have taught at University of Edinburgh the following subjects:
- Philosophy of Science 1 (Nominated for EUSA Teaching Award)
- Logic 1
- The Greats: From Plato to the Enlightenment (History of Philosophy)
- Intro to Philosophy
- Ethics
- Epistemology
- Gender Studies

I am/have been course organiser and lecturer for the following courses:
- Philosophy of Law (University of Glasgow)

Themes in Epistemology (Year3; University of Edinburgh)

  • Philosophy of Evidence in Epistemology and the Law at Maastricht University, Law School.

  • Ethics, Epistemology. and Normativity at University of Helsinki. (Masters course)

Tutoring Approach

In my tutorials, I provide students with useful handouts, where I list three main questions on the target topic. These questions are used as starting point for critical discussion, while I develop mind maps that the student can then use for revision. I tend to combine open discussion with short exercises that the student has to do individually for around 5 minutes. Finally, I spend the first 5 minutes of my tutorial focusing on technical skills that the student needs to develop for successfully writing philosophy essays, and for doing philosophy more in general. Before an essay deadline, I usually organise a special writing prep. session, where I get the student to specifically focus on essay writing, essay structure, and philosophical argumentations.
