Maths Tuition in Barnet

I am a young but experienced tutor based in London. I am a Mathematical Sciences Master's graduate from the University of Oxford (graduating with distinction and placing 9th in my cohort). I also have over 4 years experience tutoring all age groups from KS2 to Oxbridge preparation and first-year undergrad.

Tutoring Experience

Before I started my degree, I took a year out to tutor mathematics where I taught students aged 9-18 all of different abilities and backgrounds. During that year I cultivated my approach to tutoring and created a variety of bespoke resources to help aid my lessons.
Whilst at University, I continued teaching a few of my students online as well as in my second year working on a Mathematics drop-in session to help first-year undergraduates with their problem sheets. In my third year, I taught a class of first-years in both semesters for two different fields of mathematics.

Tutoring Approach

I typically adapt my approach depending on the student's age and ability but what I aim to do in every lesson with every student is create a non-judgemental and friendly atmosphere where the student can feel free to ask any questions, learn at their own pace and explore the world of Mathematics.
When tackling a topic of difficulty, I use lots of visual aids such as diagrams, sketches and even computer code/ animation to help my tutees understand whatever it is they're struggling with. I also come up with lots of analogies and use lots of examples.
Regarding teaching material, Unless the student is very young, I tend to write my own questions for them to answer and use past papers/ exam-style questions. It wasn't so long ago that I did the exams myself so I have a very good idea of what to expect and how to approach the school curriculum for Secondary school study, GCSEs, A-levels, etc.
