I’m Gemma,

I am a qualified teacher with QTS. I have been teaching and tutoring for 12 years in both the UK (state and independent) and Internationally (British international schools in Vietnam and Thailand).

Tutoring Experience

I have lots of experience with the National Curriculum and have taught across KS1 and KS2 with a particular focus on Years 2, 3 and 4. I am passionate about these year groups as they are incredibly important for consolidating understand, developing independence, overcoming confidence barriers and preparing children for their next steps in Education.

I am Read Write Inc Phonics trained and have taught phonics in both KS1 and KS2.

I believe reading is the key to success and supports all areas of the curriculum, as well as essential skills such as problem solving, making connections and critical thinking.

Tutoring Approach

I am a very calm and patient teacher. I have high expectations and know that with individualised support, any child can succeed.

All lessons will be structured to follow the learning needs and interests of the individual child.
