Gary

My work in the IT industry has taken me from my home in the north-east, to London, Dublin and New York. I have worked in publishing, music, pharmaceuticals, perfumery, gambling and education. For many years I worked as a database developer writing SQL code on Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. I enjoy studying and recently completed a part-time masters in Big Data. I am also a qualified Dive Master, and in my free time and slowly learning to play the acoustic guitar.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified teacher who is currently working as a tutor. My PGCE was at Keele University and involved placements in primary, secondary and sixth form classes. I have worked in the IT industry for 20+ years, 8 years as a SQL programmer. Professionally I have also coded extensively in VBA.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is to work with the student as a coach, looking at the areas in which they need additional support and building on their current strengths. I am a patient tutor who looks to build no only the students skills but their confidence.
