Frederic

Music Teacher in Durham

Hi, I'm Frederic! I’m a music tutor with years of experience in playing, performing, and teaching.

My expertise lies in performing music, specifically piano and double bass, however, I am also very happy teaching Music Theory or Music as a subject.

My goal is to make learning music fun and interesting, not just about theory and exercises. I believe music should be something you enjoy and look forward to, whether you’re a beginner or looking to improve.

In our lessons, I’ll tailor the approach to what excites you, from the basics to more advanced techniques. I aim to create a relaxed, enjoyable environment where you can learn at your own pace.

Music has always been a big part of my life, and I’m excited to help you make it a part of yours too!

Tutoring Experience

I have had 11 years working in various orchestras, where I have performed a wide variety of music from different genres including jazz and more classical pieces. I have also performed numerous tours around Europe including to Italy and Czechia.
I have had 3 years of experience teaching music theory, working at St. Mary's Wimbledon, where I taught children from the age of 5 all the way up to 17. I have had 2 years of experience teaching piano, mostly following the ABRSM guidelines, teaching children mostly, but also numerous adults.

Tutoring Approach

I believe in creating an engaging and dynamic learning environment where students are encouraged to explore beyond the textbook. My teaching approach is hands-on, allowing students to actively participate in their learning through practical exercises, discussions, and real-world applications. I utilize alternative methods tailored to individual learning styles, ensuring that each student can grasp concepts effectively, whether through visual aids, interactive activities, or collaborative projects.
Lessons are usually an hour in length aimed at ages 7-16, but also happy to teach more senior students.
