I am passionate about languages, especially French. It has been my subject specialism for 38 years in an education career which has included classroom teaching, individual tuition, teaching students and adults in addition to subject and whole-school leadership. I have a strong desire to help others to develop their expertise in French and I have the experience to enable my students to develop their understanding and skills in this beautiful language.

Tutoring Experience

I have been in secondary school education for 38 years. I was promoted throughout my career, eventually reaching head teacher of a 1000-pupil 11-18 comprehensive school. Throughout that time I remained a dedicated classroom practitioner. I have taught French at all secondary school levels and am familiar with a wide range of exam boards. I also have experience as an examiner. I have recently given online tuition through Bramble and Zoom and I am currently undertaking a qualification in TEFL to broaden the range of subjects that I can offer.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching style emphasises the importance of varied methods of communication in the target language to stimulate spoken practice. I ensure that oral work is underpinned by a firm understanding of French grammar. I am warm, humorous, patient and dedicated. My approachable personality will put students at their ease so that I can build their confidence and develop their ability to work with me and independently.
