I'm a friendly and approachable English teacher and Second in department. Currently, I am employed at an oversubscribed secondary school in Huddersfield.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching for over seventeen years at Key stages 3,4 and 5. My GCSE groups, during this period, have enjoyed great success during their exams.
In addition to my classroom practice, I am also an examiner and moderator for both AQA and Edexcel and have been for a number of years, so I'm familiar with what pupils need to know, in preparation for their exams.
Last year, I was awarded an 'A' grade by AQA for my examination performance; for the English Language paper. Additionally, I have examined the English Literature Poetry paper, A-Level Creative Writing and the SATs Reading and SPaG components.
My success extends to tutoring as well, with a 100 % of my tutees, achieving levels 5-9 , since 2015.

Tutoring Approach

As a current teacher, I'm conversant with both the GCSE English Language and Literature specifications. Most importantly, I can provide support for any of the components (e.g.19th Century novel, Shakespeare play, Poetry) regardless of what your child has studied in school.
My extensive experience in the classroom has provided me with the skills and expertise to deliver any aspect of the English curriculum, in an accessible and effective way.
Particularly, if you feel your child has gaps in their knowledge, or they're not as prepared as you'd like them to be for their 2023 examinations, due to COVID-19, I can definately help. If your child is in Year 9 and you feel they could benefit from some support preparing for Year 10, I have a range of material, resources and lessons to suit all abilities.
