I am an outstanding ( recognised by Ofsted) Maths and English teacher with over 40 years teaching experience. I am a recently retired Assistant Head Teacher from a London primary school with a passion for teaching mathematics, reading and writing. I love encouraging children and seeing them make progress and helping them develop a growth mindset to enable them to overcome any blocks they might have.
I started teaching in 1983 as a teacher of English as a Foreign language in Greece. I returned to England in 1987 and started teaching in a primary school in Hoxton ( before it became trendy). I have taught in two other schools in Hackney and was a deputy headteacher and then an acting headteacher in one of the schools in Stamford Hill.
I was also a maths consultant for Essex County Council from 2004 - 2008 where I supported schools to raise standards in mathematics. After this I taught year 6 and year 2 in a primary school in Haringey developing KS1 maths. Most recently 2013 - 2022 I have been an Assistant Head Teacher in a primary in Enfield where I developed mathematics and created a growth mind set within the school. Last year (2022-2023) I taught year 6 in a very challenging school and managed to achieve the best SATs results the school has ever had.
Everyone can learn, it is a matter of inspiring the children and unlocking their blocks through challenging but accessible activities.
