I am a well experienced 11+ tutor /Primary Teacher who enjoys tutoring in my spare time. I teach all subjects at primary age level but have a particular focus in English, Maths and preparing children for the 11 Plus exams.

I have an amazing track record of successfully helping children obtain good progress each year by delivering impactful lessons. My nine year experience in education has led me to appreciate the importance of relating to children and personalising their learning in order to build their self-esteem to achieve. I teach pupils according to their needs and abilities as well as challenging them to reach their full potential.

Tutoring Experience

In addition to my nine years experience in primary teaching, I am also an English Co-ordinator at my current primary school for EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2. My role as an English lead is to ensure that all children make good progress and have support in place if they are falling behind as well as supporting teachers with their ability and confidence to teach English.

I have also worked with children outside of school focusing on homework and providing support in areas they struggle with.

Tutoring Approach

My high expectations have enabled many of my past students to excel, academically. I have a student-centred approach to learning where I encourage critical thinking, questioning and the confidence to express their understanding in a variety of ways.

My sessions begin with understanding the children’s style of learning and where their struggles lie. I assess the gaps in their knowledge and then work on tailoring the learning to their needs.

Providing weekly feedback to parents about their child’s progress is also vital to ensure that all are aware of the next steps needed for further progress.

As well as providing interactive sessions, reviewing past test papers and teaching techniques to test styled questions is also important as it gives children the exposure they need to reduce exam anxiety.
