I am a gregarious, dedicated and ambitious teacher with a fervent passion for education, literature and the arts. I have over fourteen years of private tutoring, teaching and lecturing experience within the UK and abroad, helping students achieve outstanding examination results and gain places to their dream universities.

I cultivate excellent relationships with my students and their families to encourage high self-esteem and excellent academic results. Over the last decade, I have gained pedagogical experience in the following contexts:
• Whole class and one-to-one tuition of hundreds of students aged 7-18+ in English and Music
• Private guitar tutor teaching all ages, abilities and styles

• Professional development in student safeguarding, special educational needs and academic workshops
• Experience of teaching and assessing for OCR, AQA, Edexcel, CIE, and IBDP
• Qualified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, with comprehensive experience in teaching English as an additional language

Outside of teaching, I enjoy swimming, writing and taking part in music performances.

Tutoring Experience

Until recently, I was Senior English and Music Teacher in a prestigious International School based in China, responsible for the teaching and learning of students at KS3 and KS4. In addition to this role, I was also a Year 8/9 form tutor, providing pastoral care and supporting student welfare both in and outside of the classroom. Before this, I taught the English A and Music International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for several years, promoting international, critical and creative thinking. In this position, I wrote UCAS references and assisted with personal statements, preparing students for higher education in some of the top universities in the world.

To sum up, my extensive experience of teaching in a variety of settings and private tutoring has helped me to develop a repertoire of strategies and skills for effective teaching and learning

Tutoring Approach

I believe that each student is unique, with their own past experiences, strengths, and weaknesses which will shape their preferences and approaches to learning. As such, I appreciate all my students as individuals, utilising their personal contexts in order to enhance learning in an inclusive and dynamic way. I favour interactive and dialogic teaching approaches, such as lively discussion, debates, role-plays, and presentations, alongside regular quiz-based assessment and diverse activities to monitor progress. My specialism and passion is English (particularly literature, language and grammar) and my extensive experience of teaching the subject around the world has enabled me to develop a repertoire of strategies and resources targeted at a range of age groups and EAL learners. Student wellbeing is at the heart of everything I do, and I offer strong support through excellent communication with both students and their families. I share personalised and differentiated lesson resources/worksheets and provide timely feedback to motivate and inspire students.
