I am an outgoing and friendly individual with a deep passion for science. Science is ever-changing and it fascinates me how we subconsciously incorporate it in our daily lives. This led me to study biomedical sciences at University and then embark upon science teachers training. In my spare time, I really enjoy playing badminton, swimming and watching shows on Netflix. These activities provide me with the perfect work-life balance and help relieve stress.
I have two years of teaching experience in a secondary setting. I have taught all three sciences at Key Stage 3 and GCSE Level. I have also taught Biology and Chemistry at A-Level. Aside from this, I have been tutoring small groups of students (3-5) in KS1, KS2, KS3 and GCSE Mathematics since January 2020. I have carried on tutoring throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. It is at that point that I developed an interesting in both teaching and working with young pupils both of which helped me acquire QTS and teach my favourite subjects.
Within teaching, I follow many pedagogy strategies but the one which I follow the most is the 'I Do, We Do, You Do' approach which means to teach a concept, work through a problem together with the students and then get them to do some independent work by adding the appropriate degree of scaffolding or stretch. This allows for more student-led lessons.
Another approach is to get students to come forward and 'teach' while I sit back and ask questions as if I were a student. This approach creates wonderful revision sessions as it is an excellent way of seeing how much the students understand a topic.
