Faisal

Hi My name is Faisal. I have been married for over 24 years and have a daughter (22 years old) and a son (19). I have just completed 26 years with a reputable Data Processing mutli-national company. I studied B.Eng. sandwich course at the University of Bradford between 1989 - 1993. I did my A levels in Pure Maths (grade B), Applied Maths (B) and Phsyics (C) between 1987-1989. I did my O levels 1985 - 1987 in Maths (A), Physics (B), Chemistry (B), Computer Studies (B), Accounting (C) and English Language (C).

Tutoring Experience

I joined The Tutor Trust in September 2022. I am DBS checked and received training in tutoring Maths secondary school pupils through the Trust. Currently, I am tutoring to Year 11 pupils at a Bradford school through the Trust.
I have also volunteered with the Prince's Trust, motivating young people at 3 different secondary schools between 2017 - 2020.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is to make Maths easier and fun to understand, with emphasis on the basics of Maths. I have observed this during my sessions that most young people do not have a strong understanding of the basic principles of Maths. Many, if not most, students have the impression that Maths is one of the hardest and boring subjects at school/college. It may have something to do with fact that Maths teachers cover the whole syllabus to a class of 25 - 30 young people. This does not take into account an individual's understanding of the basics. This is where I can make a different for an individual to learn Maths at his or her own pace, giving them tools that they can use to solve the most complex Maths questions at GCSE level. I have also observed that majority of the young people lack confidence and have low self-esteem. I can help them to build confidence and self-esteem using the skills I learnt during volunteering years with Prince's Trust.
