I hold 2 degrees and with one being in Astrophysics I offer tuition in both Physics and Maths. Highly recommended by students/parents. Now booking for summer and the 2025-26 academic year - limited places available.
I teach students in the UK and abroad, all of whom have seen excellent improvements in grades and importantly, have become more confident in their abilities and interested in their studies. I have had a role as an educator for adults and children throughout my adult life. Having now retired from these various roles, private tuition - working with either small groups or individuals helping to provide students with fully up-to-date tuition to meet their individual specific needs - is my sole focus. So I am now looking to reach and help even more student by joining FirstTutors.
I can see students in person or online although I offer a 20% discount to students coming through FirstTutors who would like online lessons ONLY.
Please feel free to contact me with enquiries.

If of interest, my wife, Paula, is QTS qualified and a very experienced teacher of Biology and Chemistry and she is also a tutor. Together we can assist in all 3 sciences & core STEM subjects. If you are interested in Biology and Chemistry in addition to Physics or Maths please feel free to get in touch.
My love for exploring the wonders of the universe has been a lifelong passion starting early in life, leading me to gain my degree in Astrophysics and then from there to enthuse others and teach about the wonders of the universe all around us.
For many years, I toured schools across the UK as part of a Mobile Planetarium group, delivering interactive and exciting sessions on Space, Dinosaurs, Fossils, and Biology. These experiences allowed me to teach hundreds of students each day, sparking curiosity and helping them see science in a new light. I am well-practised in a host of teaching strategies which I tailor in order to assist each student in meeting their own goals and I am familiar with the nuances of the various exam boards so that I can can coach students on specific content, terminology and technique which is tailored to their course.
In addition to my work in science, I spent much of my career as a Church of England vicar. This role honed my communication and one-on-one mentoring skills, as well as my ability to explain complex ideas in ways that are relatable and easy to understand. My background has also given me a unique opportunity to speak at universities and events on the fascinating interplay between science and faith.
Now, I am focusing fully on tutoring, using my expertise and passion for teaching to support GCSE students. I am committed to helping students grasp challenging concepts, build their confidence, and achieve their best in Physics and Maths.
Every child gets the chance to be taught in school. If you are looking for a tutor to help your child then it may be because something about the school approach isn't working as well as desired for them and they need that extra bit of help. My approach is not to be robotically wed to only one method, but to work with each student, to understand them, understand their strengths and weaknesses and communicate in a fresh way to help them grow and develop in their love for Physics or Maths and their skilful application to answering each question put before them.
My approach majors on understanding the "first-principles" approach to science which means they truly understand not only HOW to apply certain methodologies but also WHY. When you understand the WHY you can do anything! When you only understand the HOW you are always vulnerable to your memory.
In terms of the methods I use and the services I provide, these include:
Interactive white board
Video animation
Verbal discussions and questions
Provision of online resources such as text books, revision guides, practice questions and past paper questions
Follow-up notes after lessons
Setting of homework and review of work and feedback
Teaching of revision methods
Coaching on exam technique
