Online Tuition for Chemistry

My name is Erada. I am the mother of four grown-up professionals.

I have a B.Sc. in Chemistry, an M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, a Ph.D. in Electro-organic Synthesis, and a QTS Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Chemistry).

I am passionate about equipping my students with the skills needed to compete favourably in the world while also broadening their career options.

I firmly believe that every child deserves to achieve the best grade and should be given the opportunity to excel. As a result, I currently GLOBALLY tutor chemistry to students online from age 15 upwards.

Tutoring Experience

As a qualified Research chemist and lecturer/teacher with over 35 years of teaching experience, I am very keen to ensure that Chemistry is properly taught at A-levels so that more students can achieve their dreams of becoming medical doctors and scientists.

I served as Head of Chemistry in two Grammar Schools in Kent and as Joint Head of Science in one. Under my leadership, the A2 result of one of my schools went from 17% A*-B grades to 67% with my first cohort. The result of my second school remained between 92% and 95% A*-B grades while I was there. It has not achieved such a result since I left.

During that time, I have had the pleasure of lecturing and teaching chemistry to over 10,000 students. I have also been an examiner for AQA, OCR, and Edexcel GCSE and A-level chemistry for 13 years.

Now, I am excited to help students online achieve top grades at GCSE and A-level chemistry and secure admission into top university medical schools and other related courses.

Tutoring Approach

As a passionate chemistry teacher, I focus on a metacognitive method of teaching. I call my approach 'my trifecta, and it consists of three elements:

  1. Strategy: Most students fail when it comes to doing well in chemistry not because they aren't capable but because they are simply given the wrong strategy to succeed! This is kind of frustrating because a sports team that prepares for its next competitive fixture with the wrong strategy isn't going to succeed.
I provide the right strategy for students to dramatically increase their chances of success.

  2. habit: The key to helping students achieve top grades at GCSE and A-level in Chemistry is to rewire their current study habits so that they naturally do all the things they know they should be doing and everything becomes easier. If it’s easier, they start to enjoy it more because they’re naturally more focused and become good at it.

  3. A winning environment: This is the most important element of my trifecta because it involves improving the students' mindset. At school, students don't have a choice; they must go whether they like it or not. This means there are some students who want to be there and learn and others who don't.
Imagine this: if you were to climb to the top of Mount Everest by yourself or with a group of unmotivated people, would you be likely to make it to the top?
Or would you be better off with a leader and other people who were highly motivated and wanted to get to the top of the mountain?
Students have to be trained to be around other students who want to achieve top grades at GCSE and A-level chemistry. So that they feel motivated to do better, study harder and develop the belief that they can achieve top
grades at GCSE and A-level chemistry.
