I’ve always loved working with people and training to be a teacher seemed the natural choice for a career. I have worked with a range of levels throughout my teaching career, at secondary schools, further education colleges and universities in the UK and abroad. One of the highlights of my current job as an Academic Skills Tutor at a London university is to support students in reaching their potential in their studies and future careers.
I'm a qualified teacher with a BA. and MA. from two leading universities in London and an Outstanding Achievement Award earned from my Teacher Training degree. I have just over 9 years experience in teaching a wide variety of subjects form EFL, IELTS, EAP, Religious Studies and University level Study Skills on a one to one and class basis, in schools and universities in London and outside the UK. I currently manage an Academic Skills department at a university in London and teach one to one tutorials and workshops on Academic Skills with a focus on academic writing. I work with undergraduates, post graduates and research students and have experience of editing and proof reading written assignments and dissertations.
My approach to tutoring is student centred and driven by their needs. I always encourage students to reflect on the areas they feel they need to develop.
