Private Online Maths and English Tutor

As a dedicated tutor with over 25 years of teaching and tutoring experience, I am passionate about empowering young learners to reach their full potential. Since the onset of the pandemic, I have transitioned to online tutoring, utilising Zoom and an interactive whiteboard to create engaging, collaborative learning experiences for my students.

Beyond my qualifications and experience, what truly drives me is witnessing the remarkable transformations in my students' confidence and self-esteem as they progress in their learning journey. Whether it's overcoming a challenging concept or mastering a new skill, I am committed to providing personalised support tailored to each student's needs.
I've had the privilege of creating a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to thrive academically and socially. But don't just take my word for it – I invite you to get in touch and discover how I can support your child's academic success and confidence growth. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me for more information or to schedule lesson.

Tutoring Experience

With over two decades of experience in schools and tutoring, including roles as a classroom teacher and Assistant Head Teacher, I bring a wealth of expertise to my work as a tutor. Since qualifying from UWIC (now Cardiff Met) in 1998, I've been dedicated to nurturing the academic and personal growth of students across all year groups.
In addition to my teaching experience at a large junior school in Middlesex, I've also been involved in extra-curricular activities aimed at building confidence and self-esteem in young learners. My involvement with the Pyramid Club, where I volunteered as a leader and later coordinated clubs across the school, provided me with invaluable insights into creating supportive environments where children can thrive.
Bringing these experiences to my role as a tutor, I'm committed to fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere where students feel empowered to tackle new challenges. Through online group tuition, my goal is to instil confidence, resilience, and a love for learning in each of my students.
I invite you to connect with me to learn more about how I can support your child's academic journey and help them reach their full potential. We can work together to unlock your child's capabilities and set them on the path to success.

Tutoring Approach

Recognising that every student has unique learning needs, I am dedicated to tailoring my lessons to ensure that each pupil receives the individualised support they require to excel. In small group sessions, with a maximum of four students, I create a dynamic learning environment where peer-to-peer interaction is encouraged, providing students with valuable opportunities for collaborative learning and growth.
Utilising the features of platforms like Zoom, I use breakout rooms to further personalise instruction. This allows students to work in pairs or individually as needed, while also providing me with the flexibility to offer one-on-one assistance whenever a student encounters a challenge.
I firmly believe that interactive learning fosters deeper understanding and retention of material. By engaging students in discussions, activities, and hands-on exercises tailored to their interests and abilities, I empower them to take ownership of their learning journey and build confidence in their abilities.
Throughout my teaching/tutoring career, I've witnessed first-hand the transformative impact of personalised instruction and small group settings, from improved results to increased self-confidence.
I always invite parents to join me in supporting your child's academic growth by providing weekly feedback, communicating regularly, and suggesting opportunities to reinforce learning outside of tutoring sessions. Afterall, you are your child's first and most important teachers, and your involvement in the tutoring process can make all the difference. Whether it's setting aside time for regular tutoring sessions, providing a quiet and conducive learning environment at home, or simply showing an interest in your child's progress, you play a crucial role in supporting and reinforcing your child's learning.

I offer groups in English, Maths and GL entrance exam/11+ preparation during term-time. I also offer current students 1-1 booster sessions in the school holidays, these are charged at £40 per hour.
Group sessions last for 75-minutes.
