I am a friendly, reliable professional with over 15 years’ of domestic and international experience working as teacher in a variety of settings including, schools, colleges and adult learning centres.

WHAT I OFFER
*English lessons for speakers of other languages including, conversational English, grammar and pronunciation lessons.

*Online phonics, reading and maths lessons for children in EYFS and keys stage 1. Using the virtual classroom children are taught using interactive activites and videos.

*Training sessions in phonics and KS1 maths methods to give parents’s the confidence to support their children at home.

Tutoring Experience

I gained my teaching qualification in 2002 and have worked in many primary schools in the UK, Australia and the Cayman Islands.
I am fully qualified to teach English as second language (ESOL) and understand some of the difficulties non-English speakers can face when living in a new country with an unfamiliar culture. I am very accommodating and take pride in providing good quality teaching to all I have worked with.
My qualifications include: PGCE with qualified teacher status, Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in teaching English language to adults) and a BSc in Psychology with Sociology.
Currently, teach primary level English and maths to children and I also teach English as a second language to adults. My students are from a variety of places including the UK, Poland, Turkey, South Korea and China.

Tutoring Approach

I teach my online lessons through the Zoom application which enables myself and the learner to share our screens, use a virtual whiteboard and communicate with each other, just as though we are in the same room. It’s a very convenient and comfortable way to learn.
After an informal assessment, I set achievable goals for my students to work towards and monitor their progress regularly. I feel I can best meet student’s learning needs if I am aware of their prior knowledge and learning style suited to them.
When planning lessons I aim to provide my students with rewarding learning experiences, that are well planned and delivered in an actively engaging way. By getting to know my students, I find out what motivates them and use this knowledge to develop interesting lessons.
