Emma

My name is Emma, I am a friendly and kind professional who works within Luton. I enjoy teaching the next generation and want to continue to help and support others outside of the school I work in.
Outside of work, I enjoy taking part in 5k runs and going to the cinema. I spend a lot of my free time reading, listening to music or visiting family.

Tutoring Experience

I have nearly ten years teaching experience working in a variety of different settings with a range of pupils from different backgrounds.
I have held positions such as subject leader of PE, Computing, English, Director of English for a Multi-Academy Trust and now I am currently Deputy Headteacher of Curriculum whilst maintaining a 50% teaching timetable in Year 6.
I have been fortunate to gain a wealth of experience and knowledge in working with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, those with English as an additional language and those with other additional needs such as social, emotional, mental and behavioural.
My teaching career thus far has enabled me to refine my skills and become a well established practitioner that has years of experience in supporting Year 6 pupils excel in their end of key stage assessments.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach is underpinned by understanding the child that I am working with and the desired goals by them and their adults. I understand that each child is an individual and that teaching techniques will need to be chosen specifically for their benefit and access to learning.
I work by first assessing the baseline understanding of the child in the related subject and then adapting my teaching to best suit their needs. It is important to be patient, understanding and make learning fun so that children retain the information taught.
