I have 12 years of experience teaching English at KS3, GCSE and A Level. I have a proven track record of delivering significant improvements in student results with particular success in supporting students to achieve grades 7 to 9.
I have a particular love of English Literature, and relish the opportunity to enhance my students' enjoyment of the best that has been thought and said. I have examined with AQA for English Literature since 2014, though I do also have a strong knowledge of the Eduqas specification for Language and Literature.
I have taught A Level English for the entirety of my career and I am skilled at delivering AQA English Literature Spec B, AQA English Language, AQA English Language and Literature and OCR English Literature.
I am confident in tutoring students at all levels and abilities: I can show students how to get the grade 4s that have previously eluded them, but I can also provide the "extra push" for an A Level student wanting an A*. I have an up-to-date DBS check and safeguarding certificate.
I have been in the classroom for 12 years and I have been a Head of English as well as an AQA English examiner. I have a wealth of experience of supporting students of all abilities and levels, as well as making the curriculum accessible for students with a variety of SEND.
My sessions are tailored to the individual student and their needs. I use their work to diagnose areas of weakness and then plan sessions to address these. I use a variety of strategies within my sessions to help build confidence, skills and knowledge within all English disciplines. During my sessions, I spend time demonstrating effective revision strategies so that my tutees are equipped with the skills they need to support themselves when preparing for exams.
