I have been a teacher of English as a foreign language for many years specialising in teaching adults . I speak Russian (Upper Intermediate), French (Intermediate) and German (Intermediate). I am especially experienced with speakers of the Russian language.
Since 2022, in addition to working with adult professionals, I have also been supporting EAL (English as an additional language) students with different levels of English within the English state school sector.
I am able to teach any level and I have extensive experience with FCE/ CAE/ CPE/ TOEIC. I am also experienced working with business professionals, teaching English for business purposes: Presentations/ Negotiations/ Teleconferencing/ Meetings.
I am now enjoying helping EAL students prepare for GCSE AQA English Language Papers 1 and 2. The nationalities I have worked with is mainly Ukrainian, but has included Timorese, Chinese and Lithuanian.
Successful communication is my focus when working with professionals working internationally. The student (their life, needs and interests) is my starting point. I am interested in ELF(English as a lingua franca). This means that grammatical accuracy is not necessarily my primary focus although everything depends on the individual student's wishes and needs.
When it comes to working with young students within the British educational system, I place a greater emphasis on accuracy, although I also try to ensure that my students don't see language only in grammatical terms, but also develop their self confidence to use the language and their imaginations to express themselves creatively.
