I am a qualified teacher trained at Homerton College, Cambridge PGCE with a Masters in European Culture and BA Joint Hons in French and German. I am thoughtful and patient with learners of all abilities and thoroughly enjoy the challenge of ensuring that every individual student achieves his/ her full academic potential. I am available to help navigate through home schooling - a one off lesson to reset your child with their studies , a series of lessons on an area of concern. Great flexibility.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked for 15 years at a selective grammar school for boys in London. My roles have included Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Languages, Head of Faculty and Pastoral Head. I have experience teaching GCSE / A level French and German, study skills, pastoral care and project mentor. Guiding students who are no longer enjoying their school studies is also an area of expertise. I have worked to help prioritise revision, plan study methods and generally assist a student to feel more in control of their studies when things can seem overwhelming. I can also assist students with SEN to achieve more in languages. If your child is finding English a challenge, I have experience in working along side these departments to further students' learning.

Tutoring Approach

My core belief is that all students must be given the opportunity to access the curriculum. Diffentiation is key - I make every effort to ensure that students are suitably challenged through interesting lessons. I use a variety and range of teaching methods to actively engage students in their learning. Aims and objectives must be made clear and I will respond to the needs of the individual to ensure that they feel inspired to learn and develop their talents to the best of their ability. I can help with English, French and German GCSE, study skills and organisation, literacy, and students who are struggling with their reading skills. Unlocking these skills will improve access to the rest of the curriculum and boost their confidence. Years 3-10 welcome.
