I am a qualified teacher and the owner of Layton Education. Despite loving teaching in the classroom, I have found that nothing makes me happier than working one-to-one with a pupil, and helping them succeed and be proud of the work that they have produced! This is what motivated me to move to tutoring full time.

I have a First with Honours from UCL, where I worked at the Institute of Education. The IOE has been #1 in the world for education for 10 consecutive years, and I was privileged to work alongside many top researchers in my time there! I have a PGCE with Distinction, and Qualified Teacher Status.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked both in schools and one-to-one with pupils, and have found that one-to-one is my preferred method of teaching. It allows me to shape my lessons to suit specific pupil need, and boost confidence through tailored techniques and styles. I have worked with a variety of pupils from the ages of 6 through to 18, and have also worked with adult learners at university.

Tutoring Approach

I have a friendly, welcoming approach, which prioritises pupil-led learning and a low pressure environment - never making a pupil feel that learning is stressful.

In a typical lesson, we will focus on an area of learning that you want to feel more confident in or that I have identified through formative assessment, and will use a variety of activities to help embed this knowledge. Depending on my client, we may turn the learning into a fun game, break it down into small steps or practise exam style questions. We will also visit the application of the learnt skill, allowing you to benefit from gaining confidence in using the skill in practice.

My teaching covers primary, secondary, GCSE and adult learning. No matter the topic, I am here to support you with your learning!
