As an ex-Assistant Headteacher in a high performing specialist Science and Mathematics Academy, I have supported thousands of students, and their parents or carers, to identify strategies which enable the attainment above and beyond their subject target grades.
Six years as a higher level Examiner for a leading national board also underpins the vital knowledge of constructing examination answers in the most appropriate way.
Further experience of working in the Aerospace Industry and Trans-Atlantic sailing helps me to give students a relevant glimpse of how their present studies can be applied in the wider world.
Twenty years of teaching experience in a high performing specialist Academy, included Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Teaching at post-16 College has underpinned the examination requirements for A level. For the past five years, my integrated approach to student's success involves a seamless blend of face-to-face and technology platforms, involving twelve different syllabi over four subjects.
Prior to the commencement of tutoring, I offer a free consultation session with students and their parents or carer, in which the needs of the individual student can be explored. Together we review the current academic report with empathy, and listen to the concerns surrounding the subject, including barriers to learning and discussion of appropriate learning styles. I subsequently construct an individual syllabus-specific course of study, aimed at achieving above and beyond the target grade. Although very time consuming, I thoroughly enjoy preparing the courses, and building strong professional relationships with students and their families.
Please note that I accept students from October through to June during the academic year.
