My name is EleniRemoved and I am a teacher of English and French. I am a native speaker of Greek therefore I had the chance to study in depth Ancient Greek at junior high and high school. Ancient Greek was also a compulsory exam to enter university. On an academic level, I studied English language and literature at Artistotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece between 2004 and 2008 and then I continued my studies with a master's degree in Bilingual Translation, University of Westminster UK. Living and studying in the UK enabled me to delve into the English language and acquire a native proficiency. My love for languages encouraged me to further my studies; I also studied French language and literature (Artistotle University of Thessaloniki) and at the department of applied foreign languages (six-month Erasmus exchange) at the university of Strasbourg, France. In addition, I have obtained a certificate in writing and reading in the Braille method for the blind by the Panhellenic Association of the Blind and I have attended seminars for dyslexia so that I can teach students with special needs as well. My perfect command of English has given me the opportunity to work as an oral examiner for several language examinations since May 2014, more specifically ECPE (C2 level, University of Michigan), MSU (all levels, Michigan State University) and ESB (all levels, University of Central Lancashire, UK).
As far as my work experience is concerned, I have been working as an English teacher in private schools and as a private tutor since 2009. The level of my students is elementary to proficiency and the age group is between 7 and 18 years old. I have also taught English to adults. In addition, I have been working as a private tutor of French since 2012, mainly with young learners (7-11 years old).
I have been always trying to enrich the educational material I am using because I think it is important to approach each student differently, depending on this age, level and educational needs. Depending on the age and level of students, I use audiovisual teaching aids, such as flashcards, charts, maps, posters and songs in my lesson in order to motivate students and help them understand the taught material more efficiently. My major goal is to offer diverse and enjoyable activities to the learners again according to their age, level and needs. Personally, I consider modern teaching methods, which include the use of technology and interactive learning, very important in education; that is why they have always been part of my teaching.
