Eleanor

Hello! My name is Eleanor and I am a First Class Mathematics graduate from the University of Edinburgh. I also recently graduated from UCL with an MSc in Statistics, in which I achieved a Distinction. I offer tuition for GCSE Maths and all A-Level Mathematics modules. My aim as a tutor is to improve your grade, build your confidence and to help to relieve anxiety. I hope that we can work together to help you become a more confident and proficient mathematician and allow you to achieve your potential!

Tutoring Experience

I recently graduated from UCL with a Distinction in MSc Statistics, and also have a first-class degree in Mathematics from the University of Edinburgh.

I have run many small-group tuition study groups for A-Level mathematics students, focused on helping them improve their marks by one whole letter grade. Additionally, I volunteered in a primary school for many years, where I assisted the teaching staff and aided children with their mathematics work. I studied mathematical education at university, thus have a detailed understanding of the theory behind mathematical knowledge acquisition which I implement in my sessions to aid your learning.

Tutoring Approach

Each lesson is tailored to the individual student's needs, working at their speed on the topics they want to focus on. During our first session together, we will go through your syllabus and identify areas which you might be struggling with, before devising a plan of action for tackling this. Lessons will involve a detailed explanation of the theory surrounding the chosen topic before moving on to hands-on example questions. Any maths student or teacher will tell you that practice makes perfect, so I will also set homework for students to ensure they are able to apply and understand the methods they've learned on their own.
