I graduated in 2005 with a Masters in Mathematics and since then have worked in the finance, utilities and tech industries, applying analytical techniques and logical sills to solve problems in business. I want to use my skills and experience to show young learners that Maths is not as scary as it looks, and help grow their confidence and abilities.
I have not taught or tutored yet, but have experience of supporting and mentoring others in logical and analytical methods and best practice in the workplace, which I am confident will help me to help students develop their mathematical skills.
My approach will begin with gaining a good understanding of a student's current abilities and areas identified as requiring the most assistance and support in, and of their goals. Tutoring will be at the student's pace, with stretch targets to encourage the student to go farther and help identify their limits of subject grasp, work output, or other learning limitations.
