I have a first-class degree in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford, a Masters from Oxford, and a PGCE (Secondary) from the University of Exeter. I have been Head of French in three Prep schools and have ten years' experience of teaching French successfully to 13+ Scholarship and Common Entrance.
I gave up full-time teaching in 2006 and have been tutoring since then. My pupils have always come to me through word of mouth, until I moved house and had to build up a new client base. For many years I almost exclusively tutored pupils preparing for 13+ Scholarship and Common Entrance, but these days I receive enquiries for GCSE, A-Level and IB tuition.
My approach varies with each pupil. Some pupils want conversation; others need to go through grammar; others still want a balance across the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. I work closely with every pupil and my input in lessons is always high. I do not believe in pupils doing independent work in tutoring sessions.
