Lydia

Maths and Chemistry Teacher in Canterbury

My name is Lydia. I am married with adult children.
I am a Clinical Consultant, with over 30 years experience, working across a variety of NHS Trusts.
In the 1990s I started a Saturday school teaching KS1 - 4, I then opened a training organisation in 2001, training graduates in employability skills, providing work experience for secondary school students wanting to enter the health profession.
Presently I mentor, coach and teach young and old, because I enjoy imparting knowledge to the younger generation.
I am always happy to help.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 33 years experience in tutoring children and adult learners from the ages of 7-14 years old and 18 plus.
I have tutored all my six children and all gained admission to university.
I had the opportunity to set up Saturday Schools in London - the first in Catford ( South East London) in 2002.
Leaving SE London for Kent, I have tutored and mentored children preparing for KS1 and KS2 SATs, the Bexley CEM exams and also for those preparing for GCSEs in Biology and Chemistry.
I do have positive reviews from parents whose children I have tutored in KS1 and KS2 most recently.

Tutoring Approach

Firstly, I complete an initial assessment for all students, to identify gaps in learning.
I take all students through the National Curriculum based on their key stage class.
I tutor students by teaching and demonstration, and then give students the opportunity to practice , to ensure learning is being carried out.
I provide practical science sessions for both primary and secondary school students, making learning interesting for all.
For all my students, there is the opportunity to revise what has been learnt and to be assessed to review improvement in learning.
For students wanting to do the 11 plus exams, I do provide tutoring in Verbal and Non verbal based on the CEM and Kent exams.
There will be homework to keep students practicing also!
