Private Maths Tuition in Edinburgh

I am a Mathematics PhD student at the University of Edinburgh with 4+ years of experience teaching students and adult learners, and teaching accreditation by the Higher Education Academy.

I am offering tuition in university mathematics, highschool mathematics, and topics upon suggestion for adult learners.

In my free time I enjoy cycling, climbing and drawing.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a tutor at the University of Edinburgh for 3+ years, and I have extensive experience offering private tuition to adult learners, highschool students and university students. I am a holder of the Edinburgh Teaching Award (AFHEA) - a fellowship awarded for professional recognition of effectiveness in teaching practices.

As a tutor at the University of Edinburgh, and in private lessons to undergrads, I have given tuition on various topics - algebra (linear, group theory, rings, Galois theory, commutative, noncommutative, etc.), analysis (calculus, metric spaces, measure theory), probability, stochastic modelling, topology, proofs and problem solving, presentation skills, etc.

I have taught highschool students privately, and within a tutoring agency. I have experience supporting exam prep.

I also have extensive experience teaching adult learners on various topics, ranging from revisiting fundamentals to supporting specialised learning for personal projects.

Tutoring Approach

I tailor my approach to the needs of my students. Based on the student's preference, I am happy to follow the relevant course material, and focus on exam preparation, while making sure the student gets to understand the logic behind the calculations. I'm always patient with my tutees, and I am of the opinion that there really aren't any stupid questions in this field.

For learners that are looking for a more holistic approach, I am happy to prepare (extracurricular) material specific to their wants. I am open to discuss and work on problems they suggest - be it in preparation for a competition, learning out of curiosity, or supporting professional development.
