Highly-experienced, innovative and lively qualified teacher and Head of Early Reading and English who offers online and in person tuition for children aged 6-16.

Based in South West Birmingham, I provide effective, purposeful tuition in my home and online.

I offer personalised support for 11+ and Common Entrance Exams, KS2 SATs and National Curriculum Subjects:
English Reading Comprehension
English Creative Writing
Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation
Mathematics (Year 3 - Year 6)

I hold a live, enhanced DBS certificate.

My specialities are preparing children for exams such as SATS, 7+, 11+ and ISEB Common Entrance Exams as well as providing support for Year 3 to Year 6 primary-aged children in Maths and English.

For National Curriculum Subjects, I provide a welcoming and nurturing learning environment where children can flourish. Sessions will be tailored to match your child’s needs. I use a variety of creative activities and technology to support and further understanding whilst also ensuring that sessions are engaging and fun!

Exam Preparation KS2 SATS:
With over 16 years in preparing children for the KS2 SATs, I offer tailored sessions to help your child feel ready to tackle SPAG, Comprehension and Maths Arithmetic and Reasoning tests.

11+ Entrance Exams and Common Entrance Exams
Sessions will centre around English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non Verbal Reasoning practice. For Common Entrance, Creative Writing will also be taught.

Maths and English Reading, English SPAG and English Writing Tuition:
You may be concerned that the pace of the curriculum is causing your child to worry and lose confidence. Many children are finding the education system challenging at the moment – before any learning takes place, children need to feel secure in their abilities which is why I focus on building self-confidence as well as closing the gaps that they have. I unpick the needs of my pupils and take things step by step, working patiently with the child's pace and ensuring that basic skills and core learning is fully embedded - that way, self-esteem is boosted, and success in learning is achievable. Or perhaps your child is very capable and needs to be stretched - my sessions will be tailored to push them to reach their potential.

I have high expectations of all the children I teach. They will be regularly nudged out of their comfort zones and challenged appropriately. I encourage pupils to try hard in all sessions, recognising their efforts and ensuring that they take pride in all that they do.

Pupils will be set regular homework and assessments.

Tutoring Experience

With over 16 years’ experience as a teacher, senior leader and tutor, the majority of my experience comes from teaching in 'Exam Point' year 6, effectively preparing children for SATs tests. I have also spend many wonderful years supporting children from UK and International Students with 7+, 11+ and ISEB Common Entrance Exams.

I have a thorough, in-depth knowledge of the subjects and age groups that I teach. I identify common misconceptions and teach children to understand how to avoid these errors.

I know that the key to progress is retention and use recap activities and repetition effectively.
I assess pupils’ understanding in lessons, identifying gaps in a child's learning and work towards closing those gaps, offering support and timely feedback.
