I am a mum of 3 older children aged 15, 18 and 20. I am a primary teacher and part time tutor.
When I'm not working I enjoy reading historical novels, playing cricket, walking and watching my children play sport. I enjoy socialising with family and friends in the evening and weekends.

Tutoring Experience

I graduated as a fully qualified Primary Teacher in 1996 and have worked throughout Key Stages 1 and 2 for several Education Authorities in my teaching career. Over 27 years in education I have been a class teacher throughout the primary aged phase and have also taught classes with children who have additional needs. I have extensive experience in all core subjects and have been employed as a specialist to boost pupils prior to taking SATs in Year 6. I have a thorough and up to date understanding of the National Curriculum and a proven track record of working with children of all ages and abilities.
Over the past 10 years I have tutored KS1 and KS2 children in English and Maths as well as successfully tutoring children for 11 plus and other school entrance exams.

Tutoring Approach

I tutor children up to, and including, Year 9. I have a child-centred approach to teaching and learning that helps each child to thrive and fulfil their potential. By creating a welcoming and friendly environment I aim to break down the barriers that prevent learning and help even the most reluctant learners to achieve rapid progress. Parents often comment on the sudden blossoming and increased confidence of their child once they begin tutoring.
I have successfully tutored many children for entrance exams within the Wirral authority. My study programmes are tailored to each individual and the specific requirements of the exam, or exams, that they wish to take. I have developed 3 specific phases - an initial Baseline Assessment test, a core skill building phase in Year 4 and full exam preparation beginning in Year 5.
