I moved to the Wisbech area in March 2016 with my partner having previously lived for 20 years in Bedfordshire and five years in Kent. Apart from my family (I have two grown up daughters, one of whom is a teacher), animals play a large part in my life. I currently own a cat, a cocker spaniel and a labrador. I also have a couple of hens in the garden. I love reading and literature as well as enjoying birdwatching and learning about British wildlife.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced teacher, having been teaching for approximately 20 years. I have been doing supply teaching across a range of schools in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk for the past six years. I have a broad experience teaching in primary and middle schools covering a wide range of subjects. My specialist subjects are English and French, although I have a lot of experience teaching Maths at primary level. I have been a KS2 English SATs marker since 2010 and have held a team leader responsibility. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as an LSA supporting children with special educational needs.

Tutoring Approach

Over the past 2 years I have been mainly involved with online and face to face tutoring and now have approximately 250 hours experience. I have been involved in one to one tuition in schools for many years and have also carried out private tuition. I have worked with children after school hours to plan and deliver booster tuition for SATs and worked on a one to one basis whilst I was an LSA working with children with special needs. I believe it is important to be extremely patient with children and to tailor the teaching to their individual need creating a safe and comfortable environment where the child feels that they can express their misunderstandings confidently.
