Hello! My name is David Murray and I have been teaching languages, literature and culture for more than 15 years. I grew up in North Yorkshire and have lived in France, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands. I live with my German fiancée and we have a black Chihuahua called Mr. Bingley.

Tutoring Experience

Over the years I have worked with many hundreds of students to develop their skills (linguistic, critical, expression); I have a wide range of teaching experience, including
- two years teaching English as a foreign language at Universtié Paris-Nanterre
- teaching French literature and language at King's College London and more recently at the University of Utrecht
- teaching classes on what literature is and how and why we study it (up to MA level)
- English literature and Dutch literature

Tutoring Approach

I take my lead from the student and find ways to work with their strengths and interests to help them develop into confident and independent speakers and thinkers, ready for examinations (and whatever else life may throw at them). The transformative possibilities of language learning have shaped my own life and I try to bring this excitement and sense of wide horizons to my teaching.
