I have mainly taught English in summer schools for children who come to the UK to learn English. However I also have good experience of teaching adults from a weekly class I teach at a centre for Russian speakers in Glasgow. I have always enjoyed the TEFL teaching work I have done.
I am from near London, although I live in Glasgow at the moment. I am a non-smoker. I understand Spanish at beginner’s level,
although my reading level is more advanced.
I obtained the CELTA certificate in July, 2013. I have a total of seven month’s experience of working as a full-time TEFL Teacher. (Teaching foreign students aged 10-17 years old.) I have good references from my past employers and from my CELTA college.
I am also currently TEFL teaching a class of adults as a volunteer in a local community centre for one evening per week. I have been doing this for the past 15 months.
I try to be flexible in my teaching methods in order to accommodate the learning needs of each individual student. I like to feel I am friendly and informal but this does not mean I regard grammar and good standards in English as unimportant.
I am keen that the student will get value for their money and therefore I will monitor their progress. I am happy to receive feedback and input from each student. i.e. students (or their parents) can tell me how they feel the lessons are progressing, what grammar they would like to cover, or anything else they need to raise about the lessons.
