I am 64 still do part time work in Property Development etc. I have two grown up sons 30 and 34. The youngest had a lot of learning problems which I helped him with so that he is now in employment full time can drive etc. I like reading and films and write some articles and short stories as well as play an alto sax.

Tutoring Experience

I taught the Institute of Housing Part 3 exams in Planning and Development for Park Lane in Leeds for 4 years as an evening class.

Tutoring Approach

When I taught I would always hand out full lecture notes so students could relax and NOT take notes but instead add to them and understand them and then at revision had something to fall back on even if they missed that lecture.

With my youngest son the main thing was patience and trying to see what he didn't understand and build up from there. It's odd because I found there were areas he learned quite quickly - so reading was not so hard it just took time whereas his handwriting is still hard to understand but then I used a typing app which he took too - so in this day and age!!! So my strategy... look for easy gains to increase confidence, patience and repetition (but don't bore!). Think laterally where needed.
