Daniel

I’m a professional tutor with a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Oxford. I currently teach both online and at the university level, alongside my public philosophy teaching in UK prisons.

In addition to Philosophy at all levels, I also tutor Maths (GCSE and A-level) and Politics (A-level). Also, I'm a CELTA-qualified EFL teacher. I’ve taught English as a foreign language in Tokyo and volunteer to teach refugees here in the UK.

I'm also a published poet, and I bring the same sensitivity and attention to language into all my teaching.

I live in South East London and am happy to travel for in-person sessions.

Tutoring Experience

I have over five years of online tutoring and more than 500 hours of one-to-one sessions. I’ve helped students at every stage of their educational journey, from early secondary school to university level.

Notably, I’ve coached students into top-tier institutions, including Russell Group universities and have personally supported two students in securing places at Oxford.

On top of this, I have delivered university lectures, taught internationally, and worked across a range of educational settings.

Whether it's preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, or university admissions, I tailor my teaching to the individual. I combine subject expertise with practical strategies for exam success and long-term academic confidence.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach is centred around trust, clarity, and challenge. I work hard to build a warm, welcoming, and intellectually encouraging environment in which students feel safe to take risks and push themselves. I know from experience, both as a tutor and as a teacher at the University of Oxford, that students thrive when they feel respected, supported, and intellectually stimulated.

I am friendly and approachable, and I take pride in being able to bring out the best in each student, helping them achieve results beyond what they thought possible. Whether you're aiming for top grades, looking to deepen your understanding of a subject, or preparing for university applications, I offer a high level of expertise and experience alongside a proven track record of success.
