I am a teacher, coach and author in education and sports. I've had a long association with helping to develop young people in many walks of life, more recently working with the Prince's Trust.
Tutoring Experience
I am an experienced teacher of Economics and Business Studies, with outstanding success in adding value to students. I was a former head of department at a leading private school in Surrey. I am an examiner in Economics and a former examiner in Business Studies. I have published and/or written a number of Business Studies books through Tutor2u, been a regular writer for publications like Economics Review. I have also led a number of student and teacher conferences.
I've been tutoring online for the last 10 years.
Tutoring Approach
I aim to create confidence in the subject.
It's a two-way process. I listen and react or challenge and encourage. Either way, the lesson moves at a pace which suits the learner.
Everything needs to make sense. Why are we studying this topic? How does it fit into what I need to understand?
I use my experience to accelerate the learning by looking at what matters.
Overall, I want the tutee to enjoy their subject, because by doing that, they create the best energy to tackle the toughest topics.
