I am a fully qualified English Teacher (PGCE in Secondary English and degree in English Literature) with 8 years experience teaching in London Secondary Schools. Currently available weekday evenings and Saturdays for online tutoring as government guidance is that face to face tutoring should only take place in exceptional circumstances. When lockdown ends I look forward to resuming face to face tutoring and find it usually works best for me tutor in the student's home. I have a fully up to date DBS which I will provide in advance of lessons.

Tutoring Experience

I have extensive experience of teaching GCSE and A Level with a track record of strong results, particularly for SEN and under performing students. I am familiar with all exam boards and have particular in depth knowledge of:
-AQA for GCSE Language and Literature;
-Edexcel for GCSE Language and Literature;
-OCR for A Level Literature.

In my last school role at Finchley Catholic High School (ending July 2020), I was responsible for Key Stage 3 English curriculum and intervention, so am able to create lessons and activities which are tailored to individual students. I also am experienced in tutoring students for 11+ entrance exams (both CEM and GL).

Prior to teaching in Secondary School I spent 4 years teaching English as a Foreign Language in University, language schools and businesses so am adapt at helping students who speak English as a second language.

Tutoring Approach

I am a warm, approachable teacher who is adept at building positive relationships with students; I love reading and am passionate about my subject. I offer a free first lesson so I can assess students needs and outline a program of study before parents have to commit to spending money.
