I am currently studying a masters in medicine to become a Physician Associate. I am a dedicated learner and always eager to know more facts and information in any field. I really enjoy maths, I see solving equations as following clues to a mystery or puzzle and I get happy when all the variables fall into place.
I used to teach an online class of 20-25 secondary school students in maths, biology, chemistry and physics and have been doing private (1-on-1) tutoring for the past 3 years. Before then I'd help to tutor family and friends and always try to share knowledge in ways the recipient will understand. Maths is my favourite topic to teach however I am happy to offer help in the other science topics where I can. I have taught students whose school teachers thought they were capable of top grades (7-9) and helped them achieve those grades. I have also helped students whose schools wanted to restrict them to foundation level exam papers and helped those students prove to their school that they are capable of sitting and achieving a high grade in the higher paper.
Before starting regular lessons with me, I will first assess your skill and knowledge by asking you to complete a GCSE (or equivalent) at your level and to time yourself while doing so. Then our first lesson will be to go through that exam paper and correct any questions you might've struggled with.
From there my lesson plan generally begins with me teaching students the theory behind a topic (from scratch) and trying out some practice questions. I like to work through the questions with my students first so they can see how I would do it. and then I will let them try it themselves. Where applicable, I also show my students alternative methods of finding solutions to their maths problems.
The topics I focus on are tailored and specific to those areas that my students may struggle so these weaknesses they have, soon become their strengths.
I go through extensive varieties of past paper questions as well as practice questions to help develop knowledge and understanding in my students as well as prepare them for their exams.
