Hello :) My name is Claudia and I am a third year Durham university student studying French and Spanish. I am bubbly, approachable and happy to help with whatever queries or doubts you may have with your language studies. I am currently on my year abroad to improve my own level of spoken French and Spanish, having lived in France for the first half of the year, I am now living in Spain until the beginning of July. Aside from my love for languages, I love sports, singing, dancing, music and fashion!
I have a good level of teaching experience from tutoring students in my local area to spending 5 months teaching English to French children in a school in Saint-Raphaël, France. I planned and lead English lessons to children aged 4-11 with a range of abilities and saw great improvement in their language by the end of my time there.
Learning a language is an invaluable skill that should be kept interesting and fun while covering all the important grammar and technical side of things. I have found from my own language studies that it takes confidence to speak in a foreign language and be willing to make mistakes, it is for that reason that I like to teach in a friendly and relaxed environment so that students don't feel intimidated to just chat and give it a go! When tutoring, I prefer to offer a tailored approach to each pupil. We would start off with a chat covering strengths and weaknesses in order to give me an idea of what areas we would need to prioritise in our classes together. I also focus on a mixture of the oral, written, listening and reading skills required for language exams.
