I'm an AQA GCSE and A-level Psychology teacher working at a well achieving independent school in the North as Head of Psychology. My recent results are exceptional, with all students I've taught or tutored achieving on or above their target grade.
I'm an experienced examiner at A-level, a Team Leader on Paper 1 and examiner on Paper 3 which gives me excellent understand of the exam requirements. This also gives me experience of all of the optional topics on Paper 3, although I personally have experience of teaching Gender, Relationships, Cognition and Development, Schizophrenia, Forensics and Aggression.
Tutoring sessions with me are holistic and tailored to their needs. I will work with the student to assess the barriers to them achieving their potential and provide help to overcome these, whether that relates to revision, exam technique, understanding of content or other factors. I am a friendly, outgoing and passionate teacher, and my strength is building relationships will all students which helps to them motivated. I love psychology and tutoring and I find this is passed on to those I teach and tutor. I have particular strengths in tutoring those with additional learning needs or neurodiversity, I am empathetic and utilise effective teaching and learning strategies. My students and past tutees would say I'm easy to get on with, non-judgemental and helpful. I am extremely patient and will provide as much support as the student requires.
I work closely with parents and teachers to update and collaborate on the students progress where appropriate and desired. I can provide numerous references upon request. I have been entrusted with great responsibility in the past, acting as a sole teacher for an external candidate and teaching a student who had low attendance at school; both of these tutees required multiple sessions per week and made great progress.
