Claire

I am an enthusiastic teacher with twenty years experience of working in primary and secondary education. I offer tuition in all primary subjects. I hold an English degree and specialised in English teaching during my PGCE. English is my specialism and can tutor from KS1 up to GCSE level. I am currently working as a private tutor, tutoring children aged between 9 - 16 years old in all subjects and preparing children for 11+ entrance exams and GCSE English. I enjoy tutoring immensely and have enjoyed using my teaching skills to build children's confidence and to identify and address any gaps they have and to stretch and challenge students so that they reach their full potential. My tutees have all made significant progress. I am also a supply teacher, teaching across all year groups and teaching in an 11+ tuition centre. My teaching has consistently been graded as Good with elements of Outstanding.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience of tutoring children one to one with a wide range of abilities; from covering the foundations of English and Maths to stretching and challenging more able pupils. I also provide tuition for GCSE English including exam tips and tricks.

Tutoring Approach

My calm, friendly, encouraging manner puts pupils at ease and ensures the correct environment for learning. My twenty years teaching experience means I can adapt my teaching methods to best meet the needs of the pupil. I aim to work with your child's current teacher to ensure that any gaps in their learning can be addressed during sessions. All sessions are tailor made to suit the individual needs of the pupil.
