I am passionate about the enduring wonder and power of Latin and Greek. It is a delight to share these languages. They give us insights into ways of thinking and expression that have resonated in western culture ever since.
Classics was my first degree (Oxford University), including Ancient Greek, Latin, Ancient History and Philosophy. As a cross-disciplinary subject it set me up for career avenues in art and architecture, and for learning other modern languages. I am currently in the process of training to be a secondary school Classics teacher (PGCE course, University of Sussex).
DBS cleared. References available.
Experienced cover teacher/teaching assistant in schools across a range of subjects including Latin. Previous experience as an artist running community workshops for a range of age groups and backgrounds.
Awarded an exhibition to read Classics at Merton College, Oxford. Prizewinner in inter-school classical oration competitions.
My particular interest is in teaching ancient languages as they sounded. This brings them alive and makes the literature immediate; I also draw on art and architecture for context and imagination. I am flexible about working in complement to a curriculum or independently.
