I am a Chartered Structural Engineer. I want to pass on the skills in Maths, Physics, Engineering and IT that I have acquired so that others can develop both in their studies and their future careers.
Throughout my working life I taken great pleasure and pride in mentoring younger colleagues. My experience as a professional engineer and my skills in relating to people have fitted me for a teaching role.
Since forming my own company I have devoted part of the week to teaching maths and have coached pupils for the Common Entrance Exam,GCSE and A Levels.
I have recently helped a student without A Level Maths prepare for entry into in to a maths-based MSc course.
As I am often dealing with school students preparing for exams, I ensure that I am working to support what they are learning at school
As a practising engineer I have developed the ability to explain unfamiliar concepts in terms that students can understand. I like to provide real life examples which are often the key to understanding topics.
Most importantly I see my role as helping students gain confidence and I encourage them to raise questions.
