I earned my PGCE in Mandarin with French in 2015 and Masters in Teaching with Distinction from UCL IOE in 2021. Previously I acquired the HSK Level 6 for proficiency in Chinese in 2012 and prior to that a BA in English Language and Linguistics from the University of York in 2008.

During this time I have become a leader in education, a published author and a fluent Mandarin speaker with over 15 years of experience in teaching, tutoring and training. In my spare time, I like to play football, go hiking and jam on my guitar or cajon. You will find me to be friendly, positive and very much supportive of your goals.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught across primary and secondary private and state sector settings and have helped students achieve top grades across all types of examinations including the YCT, HSK, GCSE and Pre-U and A-Level in addition to Scottish Qualifications (SQA National 5 and Higher). Previous schools I have worked in and for include Laytmer Upper School (Hammersmith), Radley College (Oxford) and George Watson's College (Edinburgh).

I have been tutoring alongside teaching after completing my teacher training in Mandarin with French. I am a published author having authored the Pearson Mandarin 11-16 Toolkit and the Chinese Sentence Builders series on behalf of Gianfranco Conti.

I also lived and worked in China from 2008-2014 as to my fluency in Mandarin Chinese. Whilst there I taught English as a Foreign Language to children, university student and adults in a variety of settings.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching begins with the learner where teaching methods are catered to an individual’s needs and goals. I understand that motivation is sustained when the individual learns on their terms and they feel comfortable in a teacher-student relationship that is rooted in genuine care and mutual respect.
